Elizabeth "Betty" Gowdy Merovonich
On the morning on June 28, 2018, our loving mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Gowdy Merovonich, entered peacefully into Eternal Life. Betty was the daughter of the late Frank K. Gowdy II and Ruth DuPrey Gowdy of Enfield, CT. Betty is survived by her three daughters, Melissa Morehouse of Stafford Springs, Wendy McIntosh of Enfield and Gwen Jeffries, and her son-in-law, Richard of Broad Brook; three granddaughters, Elizabeth and Laura McIntosh, and Jane Jeffries; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey Mangene, Aaliyah Engram, and Linkoln and Lukas Powell; as well as her brother, Frank Gowdy III and his wife, Diane, along with many other loving relatives. She is predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, George Merovonich; and two sons-in-law, David McIntosh and Tony Morehouse. Betty attended St. Francis School of Nursing. She worked for 45 years at Blair Manor in Enfield, CT. She recently joined the Women of the Moose Rockville Chapter 1360 that she enjoyed. She also enjoyed working outside, spending time with family and friends, and CNN News. She was a selfless person and will truly be missed by many. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, CT 06082. At 7:30 pm there will be a service led by the Women of the Moose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at St. Catherine Church, 6 Windsorville Rd, Broad Brook, CT 06016. A procession will gather at 9:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery, East Windsor, CT. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
