Obituary for Maryellen Finnerty (Johnson)

Maryellen Johnson Finnerty, 77, of Enfield, beloved wife of the late John J. Finnerty Jr., died peacefully Sunday, June 24, 2018. Born in Springfield to the late Samuel and Mary (Sullivan) Johnson, she lived most of her life in Enfield and was a dedicated member of Holy Family Church in Enfield. Maryellen taught the children of her community for many, many years in the Enfield Public Schools. She was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School and The College of Our Lady of the Elms, a devout Catholic, and an avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed time with family, friends, and neighbors. Widowed at age 32, she was the most devoted, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and neighbor. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her four children, John Finnerty and his wife, Melanie, Michael Finnerty, Colleen Finnerty, Kerri Dube and her husband, David; her sister in-law, Kathleen Johnson; five grandchildren, Kevin and Mason Timmins, and Matthew, Kyle, and Luke Dube; two nieces, Marybeth Hockenbury and Karen Johnson; and two nephews, Jim Johnson and Tim Johnson. In addition to her husband and parents, Maryellen is also predeceased by her brother, James Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Church in Enfield at 10 a.m. Friday, June 29. Please meet at church. Burial will follow at St. Patrick King Street Cemetery in Enfield.
