Mary Raffia, 93, of Enfield, beloved wife of the late Mitchell J. "Mitch" Raffia (2017) for 69 years, entered into eternal peace Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Suffield House with her family by her side. The daughter of the late John and Mary (Stofcik) Michko, she lived in Enfield all of her life and was a parishioner at St. Bernard Church. Mary raised her family and helped on the farm. In her early years, she was formerly employed by the town of Enfield at the Town Clerk's office and was formerly employed as a bank bookkeeper in Springfield, MA. Mary loved working in her garden growing her flowers and feeding the birds. She also loved dancing with her husband Mitch. Mary is survived by two sons, Paul Raffia and Gary Raffia and his wife Mary Jane all of Enfield; three grandchildren, Michelle Priolo and her husband Anthony of Colchester, Sara Raffia of Enfield, Kristen Nolan and her husband Bryan of Enfield; five great grandchildren, Samantha and A.J. Priolo, Mackenzie and Blake Nolan, and Zachary Zannoni. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Mitch, she was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Michko and Leona Luczai. Mary's family especially thanks the staff at Johnson Memorial Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital, and the staff at Suffield House for the exceptional care they provided.
Visitation hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Family and friends may gather at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Leete-Stevens for a procession to St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave., Enfield for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery. Donations in Mary's memory may be made payable to: Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation.
