Obituary for Richard Henry "Rick" Lech

Richard Henry "Rick"  Lech
Richard "Rick" H. Lech, 65, of Enfield, loving husband of 43 years to Jacklyn (Cooke) Lech who he called his sweetheart, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, May 7, 2018, at St Francis Hospital. Son of the late John Lech and Stella (Dziadul) Lech, Rick was born in Detroit, MI before moving to CT. Rick graduated from Ellington High School in 1970 and later attended trade school. He enjoyed a long career of over 40 years as an auto body exceptional shop manager at Standard Auto Body. Rick was dedicated to his work, and even more dedicated to his family. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a fantastic grandfather. Among his other interests were watching UCONN basketball, polka dancing, travel, and trips to Hampton Beach which he enjoyed even more when his grandkids were there. He was a member of the Enfield Elks and a parishioner of Holy Family Church. Rick will be remembered for his warm personable nature, his one-liners, and his ever-present smile. In addition to his loving wife, Jacklyn, Rick leaves behind his children, Scott and his wife Jessica of Enfield, Jonathan and his wife Marissa of Quincy, MA, and Joel and his fiancée Kelly of Ellington; his first grandchild and longtime friend, Landon Lech; his grandchildren, Camden Lech, Abigail Lech, Bella Zakhary, Devon Lech, and Rylee Lech; his mother in law, Catherine Cooke; his brothers, Mitchell Lech and his wife, Louise of Coventry, Larry Lech and his wife Diane of Broadbrook; sisters in law Sandra McCarthy and her husband Danny of SC, Donna LeBlanc and her husband Rich of Enfield, and Susan Bowman and her husband Robert of SC; his brother in law, Steven Cooke and his wife Donna, aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his sister Maryann Hafford, father in law Donald Cooke Sr. Brother in law, Donald Cooke, Jr. His family would like to thank the ICU staff at St Francis hospital for their exceptional care and would also like to thank countless friends and neighbors for their outpouring of support. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Friday, May 11, 2018, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 11 am at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield. Please meet at the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in may be made to the Richard Lech Scholarship Fund, c/o United Bank, 231 Hazard Ave, Enfield, CT 06082 or a charity of donor’s choice.
