Obituary for Roger E. Costa

Roger E. Costa, 82, of Somers, CT, loving husband to Donna (Robbins) Costa, passed away peacefully at Evergreen Healthcare, Tuesday, January 9, 2018. He was born in Fairhaven, MA on July 8, 1935, the son of the late Antonio and Mary (Lemos) Costa. Roger was employed at Pratt and Whitney and later retired from Connecticut Light and Power after 34 years. He also worked as a school-bus driver for 17 years for the Ellington Public School System. In his free time, he enjoyed trips with his family to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Roger also loved bird watching, photography, sailing, coaching little league and judging Doodlebugs. Roger loved spending time with his 2 cats, Bella and Gracie, and his dog Oliver, who he named after his love of Oliver brand tractors. What Roger enjoyed the most was spending time and talking with his loving wife, "Babes", as he affectionately called her. From the moment he saw her, she captured his heart with her beauty, her warmth, and her courage. He knew then, as he knows now, that she would change his life forever. And now, wherever she goes, he is with her, in spirit. For they have a bond stronger than friendship or love. And although they cannot be together, they will never, ever be apart.
In addition to his wife, Donna, Roger is survived by three children, Joanne Costa Seaman and her husband, Scott of Durham, NC, Roger Costa Jr. and his wife, Lisa of South Windsor, CT, Matthew Costa and his wife, Jennifer of Manchester, CT; three stepsons, Kevin Kibbe and his wife, Doreen of Enfield, CT, Chris Kibbe and his wife, Donna of Somers, CT, and Roger Kibbe and his wife, Michelle of Coventry, RI; a brother, Robert Costa of Bourne, MA; eighteen grandchildren, Ross, Park, Adam, Kris, Shane, Olivia, Audria, Hannah, Delia, Mary, Wilson, Joshua, Ryan, Mason, Ruthie, Noah, Jillian, and Katherine; and seven great grandchildren, Evan, Samantha, Isaac, Fiona, Elise, Hunter and Kylee. Roger was predeceased by a daughter, Doreen Costa, and a half-brother Arthur Costa. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
