Obituary for William J. "BIll" Burns

William J. "Bill" Burns, 83, of Enfield husband of Blanche (Richard)Burns entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, December 29, 2017, at Parkway Pavilion. Bill was born January 14, 1934, in Harford, CT the son of the late John F. Sr. and Margaret (Moran) Burns. He proudly served in the United States Army and retired from the Aetna Insurance Company after many years. Bill was a train enthusiasts and enjoyed taking trips down to the Essex Steam Train. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and UCONN Women's Basketball. In addition to his wife, Blanche to whom he was married 56 years he is also survived by two brothers, Robert E. Burns and his wife, Patricia of Newington and Brian J. Burns of West Hartford; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; and his caregivers, Lisa Nelson and her husband, Reggie and Nancy Miller and her husband, Cliff all of Enfield. Bill was predeceased by a brother, John F. "Jack" Burns, Jr. Funeral services for Bill will be celebrated on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 11 am at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Family will welcome relatives and friends at 10 am until the time of the service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
