Obituary for William J. "Bill" Demers

William J. "Bill" Demers, 86, beloved husband of Joanne (Cunningham) Demers passed away peacefully on November 18, 2017. He was born in Worcester, MA and resided in Enfield, CT for over 50 years. Bill graduated from Clark University, earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Springfield College, and obtained his sixth level from the University of Connecticut. He had a long career as a science teacher in the Enfield school system and retired in 1992 as the chair of the Science department at JFK Middle School. Bill was an active person who enjoyed being outdoors. He was a member of the Springfield Ski Club and the Enfield Aero and Hunters Clubs. He enjoyed golf most of all and was still swinging his clubs as of last month. He often commented that although he never joined the hole-in-one club, he had been hit by a golf ball 3 times during his lifetime. He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne. He leaves his daughter, Terri O’Neill (Pat) of Lakewood, OH, his son William Demers (Maura) of Glastonbury, CT, four adored grandchildren, Reilly and Meghan O’Neill, and Kevin and Tim Demers, and a sister, Gloria Collins of Alexandria, VA. He was blessed with many loyal friends especially Bob Levintan, Ralph Cerrato and Brian Boucher. Bill was a wonderful grandfather who loved to entertain his grandchildren with science experiments and silly pranks. Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
