Carol Jean Roper, 74, of Enfield, beloved wife of Roy Roper for 43 years, entered into eternal peace Monday, October 30, 2017 at Johnson Memorial Medical Center in Stafford. Born and raised in Springfield, MA, Carol was the daughter of the late Paul Edward and Marion May (Bombard) Rousseau. She lived primarily in Naples, FL as well as Enfield for 20 years where she was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Carol was retired from the Springfield Public School System where she was employed for almost 30 years. She enjoyed golfing and reading and she was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Besides her husband Roy, Carol is survived by two brothers, Paul Edward Rousseau of Wilbraham, MA, Richard Eugene Rousseau and his wife Eglal Oghia of Washington D.C., two sisters, Patricia Bagnal of Springfield, MA, Janet Burati of Fishkill, NY, and three nieces and three nephews whom Carol adored deeply. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Family and friends may gather at 9:00 a.m. Friday November 3, 2017 at Leete-Stevens for a procession to Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal will follow at Mont Marie Cemetery in Holyoke, MA. In lieu of flowers donations in Carol's memory may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 577 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
