Obituary for Gilbert Koss

Gilbert "Gil" Koss, 75 , loving husband of Audrey (Rochette) Koss for 54 years, passed on Tuesday Oct. 17, 2017 from complications of prostate cancer. Born in New Britain, Gil was the son of the late Norman Sr. and Helen (Ulkus) Koss. After completing a diemaker apprenticeship in 1965 at Fafnir Bearing in New Britain, his working career included several sales, supervisory, and management positions in local companies. Gil was also past-president of the Lake Williams Beach Assn. for 6 years, as well as the operating manager of the Windsorville Assn. for 15 years. Gil had a rational, positive nature, and quick sense of humor. He was competitive and excelled in indoor sports and games such as bowling, pool and poker , winning many trophies and accolades in each. His pastimes included playing several musical instruments, golf, and fishing. Gil also enjoyed reading philosophy, which he often quoted, as well as repairing and programming computers. Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Pamela (Koss) Gahan and her husband Michael of Woodford, VT, Michael Koss and his wife Louise of Isle LaMotte, VT, David Koss,Sr. and his wife Lisa of Belvidere, VT, two brothers, Richard Koss and his wife Agnes of Plantsville, CT, Robert Koss of Uncasville, CT, a sister, Barbara (Koss) Betcher of Red Wing, MN; many grandchildren, great grand children, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Koss Jr. Visitation hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Burial will be private and held at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gil's memory may be made to the Library Assn. of Warehouse Point Central Library, 107 Main St., East Windsor, CT 06088.
