Obituary for Marina S. Rodriguez (Contreras)

Marina S. Rodriguez, 55, of Enfield, CT loving wife of Guadalupe "Lupe" Rodriguez passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at home after a long battle with kidney disease. She was born December 26, 1961 in San Miguel, El Salvador to the late Florentin and Sabina (Santos) Contreras. After immigrating to the United States in 1985, Marina made her home in Enfield with her loving husband of 30 years where they raised their two sons, Erick and Alex Rodriguez. She was the head of her household and enjoyed nothing more than the time she was able to spend with her family. Marina loved being able to relax while listening to music at home where she could be found cooking her traditional El Salvadorian recipes for all her friends and family. In addition to her beloved husband, Marina is also survived by her two sons, Erick Rodriguez and his girlfriend, Alison Dessert of Boston, MA, and Alex Rodriguez and his wife, Cassandra of Enfield, CT; two beloved grandchildren, Carter James Rodriguez and Charlotte Sandra Rodriguez; a brother, Nicolas Contreras of Seattle, WA; a sister, Lucia Contreras of El Salvador; and many nieces and nephews including her closest friend, Iris Santos of Enfield, CT. Marina was predeceased by a brother, Felipe Contreras. Family and friends may gather for visitation hours on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 12:00 noon at St. Patrick Church, 64 Pearl St, Enfield. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marina's memory may be made to the Rodriguez family.
