Richard M.  Steinert
Richard M. Steinert, 93, longtime resident of Enfield, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare, on Saturday, August 19, 2017. He was born on June 28, 1924, the loving son of late Hiram and Ann (Maurice) Steinert. Richard was married to his loving wife Marjorie "Peggy" (Toole) Steinert, for 69 years. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Franklin and Marshall College, in Lancaster, PA. and his Master's in Clinical Psychology from DePauw University, in Greencastle, IN. Richard also was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during WWII and the Korean War. After leaving the service, Richard started his career path working for the Department of Corrections in Wethersfield as a Deputy Warden. He continued his career as a Warden, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed sports, especially, being a big Red Sox fan and being a fan of UConn Men and Womens basketball teams. A devoted family man, besides his wife, Peggy, Richard is survived by his loving children, Kathie Steinert and her spouse Michelle Lavallee of Suffield, John Steinert and his girlfriend Kathryn Pepe of Enfield, Richard Steinert and his wife Christine of Pensacola, FL.; his two grandchildren, Laine Steinert and her partner Joshua Fournier and Paige Steinert and her fiancé Gary Soper. Richard was predeceased by his brother Joseph Steinert. The family will receive friends during visitation hours on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A private Memorial Service will be at 7:30 P.M. and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
