Obituary for Peter Vito Ciriello

Peter Vito Ciriello, 90, of Somers, CT loving husband of 66 years to Germaine (Cyr) Ciriello entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday, August 12, 2017, surrounded by his family at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Peter was born September 16, 1926, in Portland, ME the son of the late Antonio and Rosina (Cringola) Ciriello of Lacedonia, Campania, Italy. Peter proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II serving aboard the USS Lake Champlain on its maiden voyage to Italy. He was a career firefighter serving 13 years with the Portland Maine Fire Department and 29 years at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford and International Fuel Cell in South Windsor retiring in 1991. After retiring he enjoyed playing pinochle at the Enfield Senior Center and cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was a parishioner of All Saints Church. Peter was proud of his children's educations and their achievements in life. In addition to his wife he is also survived by five sons, Joseph and his partner Marie Szabla of York Harbor, ME, Peter W. and his wife, Caroline of Kennebunkport, ME, Paul and his wife, Wendy of Hamilton, MA and Toronto Canada, James and his wife, Kathleen of Hopkinton, MA, and Michael and his spouse John of Oxford, NC; ten grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Heather, Ryan and his wife, Lorissa, Daniel and his fiancée, Meghan Connerney, John, Haley, Timothy, Julia, Gianna, Tristan and Nicolas; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Caroline, Levi and Sadie and several nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by three brothers, six sisters and a daughter-in-law, Sue (Percoski) Ciriello. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Somers, Funeral Home, 354 Main St., (RT 190) Somers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Portland, ME. Burial with military honors will be held in Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
