Obituary for Joseph Anthony "Jay" Savery

Joseph A. "Jay" Savery, 65, of Windsor Locks, surrendered peacefully and courageously, Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Pittsfield, MA, Jay was a graduate of Hamilton College in Utica, NY. Jay was a professor of mathematics at Springfield Technical Community College. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph C. Savery. He leaves his wife, Kelly (Cray) Savery of Windsor Locks, his mother, Florence (Gomes) Savery of Lenox, MA, a son, Nathaniel J. Savery, and a daughter, Caroline J. Savery, both of Denver, CO, three step-sons, Christopher L. Dirgo and his wife of Enfield, Joey Dirgo, III of New Haven, Jonathan A. Dirgo and his wife of Windsor Locks, three step-daughters, Katherine G. Dirgo of West Hartford, Jenny R. Dirgo and Kerri-Lynn Dirgo both of Hartford, three brothers, Michael Savery of Rensselaer, NY, Thomas Savery and his wife Jayne of Pittsfield, MA, Matthew Savery and his wife Catherine of Bozeman, MT, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, beginning at 2pm. A celebration of Jay's life will begin at 3pm with personal reflections shared by anyone whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jay's memory may be made to the Jay Savery Scholarship Fund, c/o the STCC Foundation, 1 Armory Square, Springfield, MA 01102.
