Obituary for Matthew J Korona

Matthew J. Korona, 91, of Suffield, husband of the late Wanda (Pisczek) Korona, entered into eternal peace Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 at the Suffield House. Born and raised in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, Matt lived in the community for most of his life. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the John Maciolek Post #154 American Legion. He was also a longtime member of the Enfield Society for the detection of Thieves and Robbers. He was employed by the town of Windsor for 30 plus years before retiring. Matt enjoyed the outdoors including golfing and fishing and especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities and sporting events. He is survived by a son, William Korona and his wife Brenda of Enfield, a daughter, Judith McCue of New Britain; six grandchildren - Mary, Tyler, Holly & her fiance, Dan, Brianne, Cameron & his fiancee, Hayley and Spencer. He also leaves his sister, Wanda Folini and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his son, David, three brothers and one sister. Visitation hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday December 28, 2017 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 at Leete-Stevens. Committal with military honors will be held at St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery.
