Obituary for Alma M. Hancock (Mann)

Alma (Mann) Hancock, of West Hartford, CT originally from Freeport, Maine, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, at the age of 95. Alma's love of reading, caring of children, and boarding college students became well known. Her most passionate desire was the love of walking along the beach at Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Alma was a teacher in a one room school house and then worked for CG Insurance Company, Pratt & Whitney Small Machine Tool Co. and Travelers Insurance Company data center. In 1947 she married Sidney Martin Hancock originally from Gray, Maine. Alma leaves behind a son, Thomas Mann Hancock and daughter-in-law, Elaine Hammond Hancock of Enfield, CT ; a sister, Dorothy Maybury of Freeport, Maine and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Sidney and her brother, James Thomas Mann of Freeport, Maine. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during a visiting hour on Thursday, June 29, 2017, from 2 pm to 3 pm at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral service celebrating Alma's life will follow the visiting hour at 3 pm at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Reverend Graham Van Keuren. Burial will be held in Gray , Maine at the convenience of the family. Alma's family would like to thank the kind and helpful staff at Parkway Pavilion for the wonderful care she received.
