Charles F. Friday, 80, of Enfield unexpectedly passed away at his home on Saturday, June 10, 2017. Born on September 21, 1936 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the loving son of the late Jay and Eloise (Wharton) Friday. As a young man, Chuck joined the United States Navy proudly serving his country. He enjoyed several hobbies including golf, tennis and woodworking. He was especially, adept at skiing and was employed as a ski instructor for several seasons at the Killington Vermont ski area. After retirement from the United States Postal Service, Chuck dedicated himself to improving his neighborhood by designing and maintaining a beautiful home garden. Chuck was recognized by his neighbors, proclaiming him the “Mayor” of Burns Avenue in recognition of his work to plant flowering trees along the street’s tree belt. He is survived by his two brothers, William Friday and his wife Mary of Enfield, CT, Bruce Friday and his wife Nancy of Webster, NY. a cousin Peter Friday and his wife Kathy of Amsterdam, NY., and two nephews, Douglas and Donald Friday of Enfield, CT. The family will receive friends during the visitation hours from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at the Leete-Stevens Family Funeral Home, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT. A Graveside service will be on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam, NY where Chuck will be laid to rest.
