Obituary for Allyn B. Edwards

Allyn B. Edwards, 85, of Enfield, beloved husband of the late Marilyn C. Edwards (April 8, 2017) for 64 years, reunited with his beloved wife and best friend, Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Born in Springfield, MA, he was the only son of the late J. Burton and Olive (Woodsworth) Edwards. Allyn was a graduate of Enfield High School and attended University of Connecticut. He loved boating, gardening, landscaping, oil painting, stamp collecting and loved watching sports, especially UCONN men and women basketball. He lived in Enfield, Union, Eastford, on the "lake" and spent many winters in Wildwood, FL, and the last two years, back in Enfield, close to his family. He was a Korean War Army veteran who served his country honorably and received both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals. Allyn was employed by Pratt & Whitney East Hartford Airport as supervisor of maintenance and retired after 38 years. He is survived by three daughters, Susan and her husband Paul Nai of Broad Brook, Patricia and her husband Jeffrey Lloyd of Woodstock, and Laurie and her husband David Miller of Broad Brook, and a foster son, Steve Cropley of Guerneville, CA. He also leaves eight grandchildren, Christopher, Thomas, Paul, Cathryn, Jack, Kevan, Jake, Seth, and their significant others, ten great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved dog, Lucy. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 18th at 11:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Suffield. All are welcome.
