Thomas C.  Bjorkland
Thomas C Bjorkland, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26th 2017 surrounded by family. He was born August 26, 1926, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was the son of the late Harry and Daisy Squires Bjorkland. He spent most of his life in the Hartford area where he served as an East Hartford Police Officer from 1958 through 1979 and continued as Director of Security for Mercury Oil in Wethersfield, CT. He was an avid boater, loved the sun, warmth and the sea and was an auto enthusiast - a passion he passed down through the generations. Tom will be remembered for his endless supply of stories, brash sense of humor and appreciation for all animals. He is survived by sister Vivian Bjorkland Fontaine of Windsor, VA and predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Bjorkland Stinson of Coventry, CT. Tom was also predeceased by his former wife Emma Daviduke Zaine of Windsor Locks, CT and leaves behind his former wife Irene Bjorkland Ricciuti of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is survived by his eight children, Thomas H Bjorkland of Port Orange, FL; Joan Bjorkland Dahlstrom and husband Dave of Vernon, CT; Fred J. Bjorkland of Wilmington, NC; Donald P. Bjorkland and wife Marian of Suffield, CT; Dale Bjorkland Gamo and husband Ralph of Northfield, VT; Harry S. Bjorkland and wife Maureen of Ashaway, RI; Mark Bjorkland and wife Mabel of Boca Raton, FL and Daniel Bjorkland of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was a loving grandfather to many grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as extended family and friends. The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the staff of Bickford Health Care Center and Suffield House for their support and care. All services are private and to be held at the convenience of the family.
