Obituary for William R. "Bill" Sizer

Wiliam R. "Bill" Sizer, (87) of Windsor Locks, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital. The son of the late Leonard and Rhea (Masse) Sizer, Bill was born in Windsor Locks, where he's been a lifelong resident. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Bill was a life member of the Gense Viola Post #36 American Legion in Windsor Locks. He was a mechanic for the former Park Chevrolet in Windsor Locks for several years before his employment with the State of CT Dept. of Corrections where he was worked for 34 years retiring in 1989. Bill loved going to tag sales and finding unique treasures. He was also an animal lover who kept all his neighborhood wildlife friends happily fed in his yard. He is survived by his daughter Linda Starbird and her husband Richard of Windsor Locks, a grandson, Taylor Starbird, his former wife and good friend Marjorie Quesnel of Ocala, FL. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Sizer, and a sister, Betty Mandirola. Visitation hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Military honors will be held at the graveside at 11:30 a.m. Thursday April 13, 2017 at Grove Cemetery in Windsor Locks. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to the ASPCA.
