Carolina "Nonna" Orefice (Puzar)
Carolina (Puzar) Orefice, 95, of Enfield Connecticut passed away on May 2nd at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Zara, Italy on October 25, 1921, daughter of Vladimir and Simeona (Kurtin) Puzar. She was married and moved to Enna, Sicily where she lived for 13 years. Her hard-working family moved to the United States in 1956. Before retiring she was employed by the Carter Company in Springfield, MA. Carolina was known as "Nonna" to many. She was a most generous and tender hearted person who enjoyed knitting blankets for loved ones, cooking for her family, and gardening. Her cooking was “Numero Uno”. Her family was always her greatest priority. She enjoyed being with her loved ones and special “compari and commari” at family gatherings. She is survived by her former husband Giuseppe Orefice, her three treasured sons Salvatore (Sam) and his wife Cindy Orefice of Enfield CT, Vladimiro (Miro) and his wife Norma Orefice of Broad Brook, CT and Claudio and his wife Helene Orefice of Somers CT; a son in law David Ferreira Sr. of Milford, MA; 13 adoring grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren whom she called her angels. She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, a sister and her cherished and blessed daughter Antonia Ferreira. The family would like to thank Drs. Mary Adler and Dr. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison and Janet of the VNHSC who took great care of her during her journey. Also her special aide Rose. She'll always be remembered as our "Sweet Caroline." Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Family and friends may gather at 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 at Leete-Stevens for a procession to Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial.
