James Edward "Jim"  Flynn Jr.
James E. "Jim" Flynn, Jr. 85, of Enfield, CT loving husband of 61 years to the late Ellen (Reynolds) Flynn passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Hartford Hospital. Jim was born October 7, 1932, in Hartford, CT the son of the late James Sr. and Anna E. (Hollinger) Flynn. Jim proudly served in the United States Navy during peacetime. He was a graduate of Syracuse University where he received his B.S. and later his M.A. from Michigan State University from the Communications Skills Department. Jim retired in 1995 after 25 years from Kaman Aerospace Corp in Bloomfield and was previously employed with Hamilton Standard. Jim was later employed with Leete-Stevens as a Funeral Assistant. He was a communicant and charter member of Holy Family Church where he served for many years as a lector. Jim also served the community as a Justice of the Peace for several years and formerly served on the Board of Director for the Enfield Food Shelf. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed boating, the beach and duck pin bowling. Jim is survived by two children, Timothy J Flynn and his wife, Jan of Loris, SC and Megan Angell and her husband, Stewart of Springfield, MA; two grandchildren, Quinn and Kelsea Angell; his twin sisters, Ruth Marshall of Keller, TX and May McNamara of Forestville, CT and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Ellen, Jim was also predeceased by a son, Mark J. Flynn. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 10 am at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield. Please meet at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Jim may be made to the Enfield Food Shelf, Inc., P.O. Box 699, Enfield, CT 06083.
