Dorothy E. "Dutchy"  Seif
Dorothy “Dutchy” “Dottie” (Monahan) Seif, 91, of Windsor Locks passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. Dutchy was the beloved wife of 49 years to the late, William (Bill) Seif. She was born on January 20, 1925, in Hartford, CT a daughter of the late Bernard and Lillian (Goldenthal) Monahan. Dutchy grew up in Hartford and graduated from Weaver High School. She moved to Windsor Locks in 1968 and was a parishioner of St. Mary Church. She worked for Travelers Insurance Company for many years where she retired from. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as a volunteer at the Windsor Locks Senior Center. She loved her trips to the casino, and summer vacations at the beach. She enjoyed her daily phone conversations with her family and friends, and was a huge fan of UCONN Women’s Basketball. Dutchy will always be remembered for her kindness and caring for others. She will be dearly missed by her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Stanhope and her husband Arthur of Windsor Locks and Mary Lou Seif and her husband Jimmy Kalogeros of Windsor Locks, her son William (Skip) Seif and his wife Maura of Powhatan, VA; five grandchildren, Patty Cochran and her husband Jake, Gary Stanhope and his wife Alexandra, Cheryl Regan and her husband Bill, Jennifer Lawson and her husband Sean, and William (BJ) Seif and his wife Christina; seven great-grandchildren, Alex Bouchard, Trenten Stanhope, Collin and Sydney Lawson, Mackenzie and Liam Seif, Shea Regan and her granddog Brady; two special sister-in-law, Josie Monahan and Rena Monahan, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband William, Dorothy was predeceased by a sister Mary Sullivan and two brothers, Frank “Buddy” Monahan and Bernard (Robert) Monahan. Relatives and friends may join the family for calling hours on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. A funeral procession will gather on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 10:00 at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial donations in Dutchy’s memory may be made to Windsor Locks Lion’s Ambulance, P.O. Box 105, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
