Obituary for Fred M. Yeager

Fred M.  Yeager
Fred Yeager of Enfield, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, (March 22, 2015) at home with his loving wife, Ann, by his side. He is survived by his beloved family; his wife of 52 years, Ann Marie (Zielenski) Yeager; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Laura Yeager; his daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Bryan Mulligan. He also leaves his grandchildren whom he adored, Emily Yeager and Griffin Mulligan. In addition, he is survived by brothers-in-law; Daniel Zielenski, Richard Zielenski and wife Linda and two nieces; Cindy (Zielenski) Davis and Heather Zielenski. Fred was born in New Britain, CT in 1935, son of the late Mabel Vergason and Arthur Yeager. He graduated from Newington High School in 1953. Fred and Ann were married in 1962 and moved to Enfield in 1964 where they raised their family. Fred worked as a lithographer for 43 years retiring in 2001. Fred was a gifted musician since childhood and playing drums was his passion. He enjoyed playing in several bands throughout his lifetime. He was especially fond of polka and in earlier years was a drummer for the Chet Dragon Polka Band and Ray Henry Polka Band. He also served 4 years in the United States Air Force Band. Most recently, he was a drummer with the Locks People Band. Fred was a member of Holy Family Church. He was devoted to his family, loved animals, and enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was energetic and hard-working and in healthier days could be found working in his yard or under the hood of a car. Fred and Ann shared a love of boating and for many years moored their boat at Hays Haven Marina in Chester, CT. They also shared a love of travel – exploring Europe on numerous trips. Fred was a good man – he was generous, loving and brought his fun-loving sense of humor with him wherever he went. Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 26 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Funeral Home, 61 South Rd, Enfield, CT. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd, Enfield, CT. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations may be made to Enfield Loaves and Fishes or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
