Obituary for Thomas Salvatore Quinn

Thomas  Salvatore  Quinn
Thomas Salvatore Quinn, 84, of Gilford, NH, and longtime resident of Windsor Locks, CT, was the loving husband of 63 years to Edna (Cote) Quinn. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Western Massachusetts Hospital. Tom was born July 13, 1930 in Hartford, CT, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Cruise) Quinn. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Tom was full of Irish pride and was an avid golfer. He was an aircraft welder and retired in 1992 from Windsor Airmotive. After retiring, Tom moved to New Hampshire, spending his summers on Lake Winnipesaukee and winters with his daughters or with friends in Myrtle Beach. Tom was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree, Riverside Council # 26 and served as Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, and District Deputy. Tom was on the Windsor Locks Park Commission and was one of the founders of the Windsor Locks Water Jets swim team. With four daughters active in the Girl Scouts he became a Girl Scout and helped at various Girl Scout Camps in the CT Valley. Tom was also a member of the Conn. Yankee Drum Corps in Stratford, the American Legion Gensi-Viola Post No. 36, the Windsor Locks Lions Club, and the Windsor Locks Senior Center. In addition to his wife he is also survived by four daughters: Karen Chicoine and her husband, Robert, of West Hartland, CT; Nancy Amrich and her husband, John, of Westfield, MA; Donna Powers and her husband, John, of Kihei, HI; and Pamela Hallock and her husband, David, of Ashburn, VA. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Christopher Amrich and his wife, Megan, of Westfield, MA; and Rhonda Chicoine of Sagamore Beach, MA; and several nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by four brothers: Joseph, James, John, and Francis Quinn. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT. A funeral procession will gather on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at 10 am at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm, St., Windsor Locks. Burial will be held at the New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery, in Boscawen, NH, on Friday, March 13, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sr. Caritas Center, c/o Patients Service Fund at Mercy Hospital, P.O. Box 9012, Springfield, MA 01102-9012.
